What is Clean The Plate?

Clean the Plate was created due to the eating experiences of two ACT (Australia) university students trying to eat well for under $10.00 per person.

Originally this meant fast food chains but as time went on, more diversity was sought.

The students began to talk to family, friends and acquaintances about their experiences and were encouraged to write a blog as they often found new and exciting places and were underwhelmed by others which had a good reputation.

Enlisting the support of a family member, the three decided to choose restaurants which interested them and see if they felt the food encouraged them to ‘clean the plate.’

We hope you enjoy the blog and will make suggestions of places to try.

Update September 2018.

The University Students have now graduated and working.  The unfortunate outcome has meant this blog has not been updated for some time.  However, a new plan has been formed to continue with the blog, sometimes including all participants and sometimes including a special guest appearance of friends.  A new blog post should be available soon.

Update July, 2019

Alexi will no longer contributing to Clean The Plate.  Harper has agreed (in theory) to take Alexi’s place.

Update November, 2019

Jamie has been diagnosed with GERD/GORD (Gastric Reflux, or whatever it is).  Curries and other food which increase Gastric Reflux will possibly not feature regularly on this blog.

  1. Hi Clean The Plate,

I am “My Food World”, a Big Foodie in Zomato Brisbane. I am doing a PhD at QUT. Unfortunately I had a stroke 6 months ago but I am now better and came back to continue my study and write restaurant reviews. I am writing to ask if you could participate in my online survey. I am trying to understand why “people like us” write reviews.
It will take around 5-10 minutes to finish my survey. So I think it takes a lot less time to do my survey than it does to write our reviews. I really hope that you can help me out. You can also get a $10 Coles voucher for your participation. Please click the survey link https://survey.qut.edu.au/f/185351/9748/. If each of you were willing to complete my survey, please use a different phone or computer to access my survey. Thanks heaps.
P.S. Can you please let me know when you finish my survey? 🙂

    Cheers,
    Saranya

    1. Hello Saranya,

We apologise for replying so long after your message but as you may be aware Clean The Plate was on hiatus as one of us was travelling and only one of us does the updates and reads the emails. This is an oversight which will be remedied.

We are very sorry to hear about your stroke and hope you are recovering. Is it too late to complete your survey?

Once again, best wishes for a full recovery.

      Regards,

      Clean The Plate
